Women are angels... and when someone breaks our wings, we simply continue to fly... on a broomstick, if need be. We are flexible like that!

House Update #3 a couple more pics

Last weekend the house got a green door and porches. Uncle Paul did some touch up painting

The dark green looks good with the house color.
Once the front windows get replaced it will be complete and the windows went in Thurs. (Sept 17th). But I wasn't there so it will have to wait for the finished pictures next time I go visit.

Utah State Fair

I went and helped staff the Fire Awareness Booth at the Utah State Fair this year.
I spent the day with 2 ladies from the Bureau of Land Management.
Terry Graham on the left and Tina Brown on the right.
They were a lot of fun!
Thanks for the laughs Ladies

The display had a cut out that you could take your picture in. We had to have a little fun with it.

Capital Reef

Dave and I went to Capital Reef National Park last weekend and picked apples and pears. The pears were soo good! Dave has been wanting to go to Capital Reef to pick fruit for the last couple years.

Reach Dave, you can get it.

We weren't the only ones who liked the pears best. The deer were in the pear orchard too. It was next to the golden delicious orchard. We had several deer come to eat and I noticed that they all came to the pear orchard to snack.

You can't beat pickin fruit with this kind of scenery.
It was a fantastic day.

Indian petroglyphs in the park.

Raising Money for a Good Cause

Linda Chappell and Linda Wadleigh are both going to Washington DC to participate in the Susan G. Komen 60 mile Walk in October.
Linda C. set up this booth at the Truck show in Aurora on Sept 12th to help raise donations.
If you would like to help donate to the cause in their name click one of the following links:

Labor Day Weekend Adventure

Petrified Forest
Dave and I went to the Petrified forest and Painted Desert over the weekend. We spent the night in Gallop NM. and then traveled across the Indian Reservation stopping to see the sights along the way. When we first got to the park, it had just finished raining so the rocks were wet and very colorful.

This is my favorite piece of petrified wood that I saw in the park.
I really love the coloring. \/

A cottontail bunny stopped to get his piture taken.
It was incredible to see all the petrified wood.
It was everywhere!
Petrified Gravel
This was called the Agate house.
It was a reconstructed pueblo made of petrified wood.

This is the same group of rocks as the photo above with Dave in it.
They were pretty large rocks

Kept meeting up with these people.
Found out they were from Portland, OR.

Newspaper rock
Dave and I were dissappointed with Newspaper rock because you have to view it from a view area which is high above. So these were the best pics I could get because it was so far away.

These 2 pictures were located by the Indian ruins in the park
There were a couple faces on these rocks and they had eyes and mouths.
I don't think I have seen that before.
Painted Desert

Painted Desert Inn is a National Historic site in the park.
It was originally run by Fred Harvey concessionairs.
These bushes had really cute flowers.
The colors seemed to be a little muted.
It was cloudy and had rained before we got there.

The famous Route 66 passes thru this area

Hubble Trading Post- Ganado, AZ

This is located above the entrance door to the trading post.
They let you take pictures inside as long as you don't use a flash.

Dave and I learned that the Daughters of JR Hubble (he had 2 daughters) nailed the baskets to the ceiling while he was away on a business trip. They were tired of them hanging on the walls.
Hubble was not too happy about it. Some of the Indians wouldn't go into the rooms with the baskets on the ceiling because it was bad juju to them. Kinda like a horseshoe hung the wrong way.

Livestock Stable w/ blacksmith shop
Heading back to Page via the Reservations
Navajo Nation just West of Ganado
Dinasaur Tracks just outside of Tuba City
I remember stopping here with my family when I was young.
It was so intriguing to me. Back then there was no marking or anything on the highway that showed where it was. Now the Navajos set up booths to sell jewelery and ask for donations to show you the tracks.
